Sneak Peek of Free As A Bird Stamp Set

Today I'm doing another Sneak Peek from the upcoming Stampin' Up! new annual catalog.  I'm using the Free As A Bird stamp Set, part of the new Bird Ballad Suite.  The bundle in this suite includes the stamp set and the new Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  And this Suite also includes Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards and Tin, Designer Series Paper, Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim and Bird Ballad Trinkets.  Whew!  That's quite a suite!  Today's card is just a quick peek at what you'll be able to create with this set.  You are going to LOVE working with all of the different elements in this set.

This card couldn't be easier.  I used one of the Bird Ballad Laser Cut Cards from the beautiful Bird Ballad Tin.  Then I cut an insert of Purple Posy and attached it to the Laser-Cut card front.

The die cuts are from the Stitched Nested Labels Dies -- a must-have from the new catalog.  I cut off the top point on the large Stitched Nested Label and use it to form a "pocket tab" at the top of the card.  I stamped the bird images in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Then I broke out both assortments of Watercolor Pencils to color the birds, branch and flowers.  I used Old Olive, Balmy Blue, Pumpkin Pie--for the beaks--, Gorgeous Grape, and Whisper White.  I always forget how much I love to use Watercolor Pencils.  I have so much more control when coloring small images.  And the Stampin' Up! Watercolor pencils has such rich pigments for excellent coverage and blending.

I fussy cut the three stamped flower and attached them to the die cuts as accents.  I stamped the sentiment from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento, and popped up the sentiment on Dimensionals.  On the pocket flap, I added one of the new Purple Posy 2019-2020 In Color Faceted Dots.

Stampin' Up! Mediterranean Moments Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek

  • Stampin' Up! Mediterranean Moments Sneak Peek
  • Watercolor pencils are back!
  • Stampin' Up! Year End Close Out Sale

Mediterranean Moments Watercolor Card

I'm soooo excited.  The upcoming Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog, which goes live January 4, will include watercolor pencils, which we haven't sold in a few years.  Two of the many new sets that will give your colored pencils a workout are Beautiful You and the stamp set I'm giving you a Sneak Peek of today, Mediterranean Moments.

Several new watercolor stamp sets are part of the new Occasions Catalog available January 4

I admit that water coloring isn't my strong suite, but I loved the images in the Mediterranean Moments stamp set and I ordered it as part of my demonstrator pre-order from Stampin' Up! OnStage back in November.  Then I had to wait for the watercolor pencils until my demo pre-order arrived in early December.  It was worth the wait.

I got interested in Watercolor pencils again while visiting my mom a couple months ago.  She had received an adult coloring book and colored pencils as a gift and it was sitting unused on her table.  While we were chatting one afternoon, I opened the book and we both started coloring one of the pages while we were having our conversation.  It was soooo relaxing.  I enjoyed reminiscing with my mother,  and we created something beautiful together at the same time.  I jumped for joy when I saw the new set of Stampin' Up! watercolor pencils in the Occasions catalog during OnStage.

Available January 4, Stampin' Up! watercolor pencils set - 141709

Case with and without die cut

I have a tip for you that I picked up from another demo:  My craft room lighting is great during the day; lots of natural sun light.  After the sun goes down, no matter how many lamps or overhead lights I turn on, I have trouble discerning the pencil colors by looking only at the lead.  So I grabbed an old thinlits set and cut a window in my watercolor pencil box.  Now I can see just which color I want without taking them all out of the box!

Stampin' Up! Watercolor case with die cut opening

Although the pencil colors are shown on the back of the pencil case, which is nice, also; this little die cut window I added myself does a better job of helping pick the color I need more quickly.

.  What do you think?  Easier?  I thought so.
