Tranquil Tulip Stampin' Up! set

I love the different looks you can create with Stampin' Up! stamp sets.  Today I tried a vintage technique I saw on YouTube, and for the life of me I can't find it again to link to it.  Update:  Thank you, Thank you Nigezza Creates at https://nigezza.blogspot.com/  She created the video showing how to create the vintage look used on this card.  Here's her video .

We have a number of sets that create antique-looking backgrounds, and my favorite from the new catalog is the Background Bits set -- a hostess set--from page 220 of the current catalog.  It includes a bunch of interesting images from script to backgrounds to borders that all look fantastic!  I  decided to use these backgrounds with Tranquil Tulips, another Hostess set, that I'm really enjoying.

I chose a color palette of Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla with Powder Pink Tulips over stamped with stamped off Crumb Cake.  I stamped the script stamp from Background Bits at the top and the bottom of the Very Vanilla layer in stamped off Crumb Cake.  I then stamped the border layer from Background Bits -- also in stamped off Crumb Cake on top of the script.  The Sentiment is from Rose Wonder and is stamped full strength using Crumb Cake ink.

The tulips from Tranquil Tulips are stamped in Powder Pink,  These tulips are two-step stamps meant to be stamped in two layers, and the stamp itself creates a lighter and darker layer so it isn't necessary to stamp off.  After stamping the Tulip in Powder Pink, I then stamped each tulip layer again in Stamped-off Crumb Cake and didn't press very hard.  It gave the Tulips the vintage look I was after.

I sponged the edges of the Vanilla layers of the card.  I cut a Delicate Doily in half and also sponged the doily with Crumb Cake.  It is a little darker than I had hoped and I may try it again with Sahara Sand to keep the doily layer a bit lighter.  Its a white doily and I miss the Very Vanilla doilies we had in the Spring catalog.  That would have been the perfect accent for this card.  The stems for the Tulip were stamped in Pear Pizzazz.

To give photos of the card even more of a vintage look, I played with some of my photo filters, and warmed up the photos just a bit, so don't be surprised if you try this card and find you colors are not quite the same as my photos.  I shot my samples in very bright natural light.  Later in the day, when the natural light was a little more overcast, this is the way the cards looked.  It was easier to filter the photos than to re shoot new photos in softer lighting.

Recipe for card:

Ribbon of Courage Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

Well, the Ribbon of Courage Stamp set is technically from Stampin' Up!, but it's really a stamp set designed by stampin' Up! demonstrator Patty Bennett and the stampin' Up! design team.  Patty designed this set while she was honored at the Stampin' Up! headquarters when she reached the incredible milestone of selling $1,000,000 in Stampin' Up! product.

While attending Stampin' Up! regional in November, we all received the Ribbon of Courage Stamp set from prize patrol.  I started playing with this set this morning and suddenly realized I had never ordered the coordinating dies for this set.  I immediately put it on order, but I really wanted to use this set today.  So, I put on my creative hat and looked through my existing stamps and dies to see what I could use that mimiced some of the wonderful dies in the coordinating set.  After  a bunch of false starts, I finally settled on the Flourish Thinlit Die set and modified pieces to meet my need.

I fussy cut the ribbon, and believe me, I can not wait for my dies to arrive.  Then I modified a flower from the Flourish Die set to reduce it to a size that fit the ribbon.  I also plucked the leaves from on of the stem and leaves set from the Flourishes set.  Everything is mounted on Dimensionals.  I added a little bow in Whisper White Bakers Twine.  And in the center of the flower, I added a Clear Faceted Gem.

I cut a circle from the Stitched Shapes Thinlit to mount the ribbon.  The Sentiment is also from this Ribbon of Courage set.  The background paper is from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Pack, Whisper White cardstock and Powder Pink cardstock.
