World Card Day Blog Hop with Stampin' Up! Products

  • Welcome to World Card Day Blog Hop
  • World Card Day Specials
  • Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin BOGO - until Oct 10 2016

It is World Card Day, and you can make this project and other listed at the links below at the World Card Day Hop with current Stampin' Up! products.  You are currently on my blog, Donna Ross from Stamped Sophisticates.  There's a list of names at the end of these card instructions you can use to hop to other blogs for some fantastic ideas for using Stampin' Up! products.

Let's get started.  This card is very fast and can be used for a make-and-take or as a card for a Christmas card class.  It can easily be stepped up to a more detailed carding using other elements from the Christmas Magic stamp set that coordinate with this snowman image. Also, you can easily change the colors on this card to any of the current catalog InColors with their matching ribbons.  Additional sparkle can be added by using the Wink of Stella pen, but I chose to keep this card simple.

Below is a single image of the card.  Click the image for a closer look.  Although this is a fairly simple card, the dry embossing and layers provide a lot of texture.  Also check the World Card Day specials from Stampin' Up! below to save on the 2016-2018 In Color card stock specials, which includes the Flirty Flamingo cards stock.  All 5 of the In olor card stock can be used to make these cards and each color also has coordiating ribbon.

Christmas Magic Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Christmas Magic (142116-wood; 142119-clear)
Ink: Flirty Flamingo, Basic Black (Archival)
Paper: Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White

Accessories:  Flirty Flamingo 3/8" Raunched Ribbon,  Aqua Painter Layering Circles Framelits, Layering Ovals Framelits, Holly Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Standard Cutting Pads, Thin Die Adapter, Big Shot Platform, Big Shot Die Cutting Machine

Here's a stepped up version of this card with a different color combination.  The addition of the trees from the Christmas Magic stamp set give it just a bit more flair without much more work.  I cut out a mask to cover the snowman before stamping the trees.

Stepped-up version using the trees from Christmas Magic along with the snowman
This card uses Cucumber Crush as the accent color for card stock and ink for the trees, and 5/8 " Cucumber Crush ribbon (141429) from the main Stampin' Up! catalog

Lovely Lace Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up!

  • Lovely Lace cards in Pink Pirouette
  • New Photopolymer stamp sets on Clearance Racks
  • Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin BOGO - until Oct 10 2016

May Flowers Framelit and Lovely Lace

I used a technique of inking the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder with a brayer before running it through the Big Shot to create this card.  Then I added the May Flower Framelit flower over the top of the brayerd image.

The card was difficult to photograph.  It came out looking like a shade of Peekaboo Peach rather than Pink Pirouette.  The color is actually Pink Pirouette with the sentiments stamped in Mellon Mambo. I originally tried Basic Black, and then I tried Rose Red for the sentiments, but Mellon Mambo was my final choice with Pink Pirouette images.  Basic Black overpowered the card and Rose Red seemed too faded.  Mellon Mambo added just the right amount of pop.

I used three different sentiments, all from the Rose Wonder stamp set.    I also cut both a Whisper White and a Pink Pirouette flower using the May Flowers thinlit die, and then offset the white underneath the Pink Pirouette layer to give the flower a bit of dimension.  Without the Whisper White layer, the flower seemed to blend into the background image.

Lovely Lace Embossing Folder brayed with Pink Pirouette ink on Whisper White card stock created this effect

This photo (above), shot at a different angle than the other cards captured the true Pink Pirouette colors of the original card best.  Click for a larger image to see the details in the double flower.

Here is a shot of all three cards together.  Depending on how the light hits each card, you see different shades from Peekaboo Peach to Pink Pirouette, even though all three are the same Pink Pirouette.  This is shot in nature daylight.  Anyone else have difficulty photographing Pink Pirouette?

Stamps: Rose Wonder (Sentiment)
Ink: Mellon Mambo, Pink Pirouette
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Whisper White

Accessories:  May Flowers Framelits,  Lovely Lace Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Standard Cutting Pads, Thin Die Adapter, Big Shot Platform, Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Brayer

    Stampin' Up! Copper Petal Burst

    • Copper Petal Burst
    • New items on Clearance Racks
    • Final day for 25% off this week's weekly specials

    Vintage Leaves from Stampin' Up!

    Copper Petal Burst
I used the wonderful, new copper foil paper and the Petal Burst Embossing Folder to create this card.

    Copper Foil and Vintage Leaves

The card was difficult to photograph due to the shine from the copper foil.  In real life the copper foil makes a dramatic background.

The sentiment is from the Grateful Bunch.  I used just the words "grateful" from the Greatful Bunch.  It is embossed in Copper.

Stamps: Vintage Leaves, Falling Flowers, Grateful Bunch (Sentiment)
Ink: Versa-Mark, Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Copper Foil, Garden Green, Cajun Craze

Accessories:  Leaflets Framelits, May Flowers Framelits,  Copper Embossing powder, Powder Pal,  Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossiung Folders, Standard Cutting Pads, Thin Die Adapter, Big Shot Platform, Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, sponge

I sponged the edges of the large Pumpkin Pie leaf with Cajan Craze.  The open leaves in Cajun Craze are from May Flower Framelit.

Star of Light from Stampin' Up!

      • Star of Light stamp set featured
      • Download a free copy of the new, Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog
      • Final day for 25% off this week's weekly specials

Star of Light from Stampin' Up!

I used the wonderful, new elements from the Star of Light stamp set and the Starlight thinlit die set to create this card.

Star of Light and Starlight thinlit dies

The card was difficult to photograph due to the shine from the silver embossing and the Silver Foil paper used for the stars, so you'll see several different views today.

The elements on this stamp set are embossed with Silver embossing powder. The new Big Shot Platform, paired with the Preciaon Base Plate and the Die Brush makes it easy to remove these detailed star die cuts. from the Starlight Thinlit dies, which coordinate with the Star of Light stamp set.  Save 10% when you buy the Star of Light Stamp Set and Starlight Thinlits Dies together as a bundle (143508).

      Stamps: Star of Light
      Ink: Versa-Mark
Paper: Rich Razzelberry, Sweet Sugarplum, Pink Piroutte, Night of Navy, Silvr Foil

Accessories and tools:  Silver embossing powder, Embossing Buddy, Silver 3/4" Satin Ribbon,  Cable Knit Dynamic Embossing Folder, Starlight Thinlit Dies,Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, New Big Shot Platform, Precision Base Plate, Standard Cutting Pads

Each card catches the light a little differently highlighting different aspects of this set.

I took about 20 more photos of these cards than I normally take trying to capture the details of this wonderful set.
