Grateful Bunch and Punch from Stampin' Up!

  • Daisies from the Grateful Bunch set
  • Retiring items and Clearance Rack items

Grateful Bunch

So, Dear Husband decided to join my weekly grocery shopping trip this morning.  I was pleased, but I knew my regular shopping routine of 5 or 6 stops to maximize my trip would need to be reduced to accommodate his shorter shopping attention span.

We arrived at Costco, and after a quick grazing at the food court, he grabbed the cart and we were off to the races.  Then he surprised me and said he was going to go up and down every aisle.  Well, that lasted about 10 aisles before he started skipping around the food aisles eating those risky samples served up throughout the store. (I'm telling you, don't eat the crab or anything with beans  or you'll be doing a quick two-step to the the little girls room most of the next day.)   As I grabbed for items on our regular shopping list, he picked up strange items like green pea crisps (dried sugar peas), crispy coconut rolls with roasted black sesame seeds,  and a big jar of Jelly Belly jelly beans left over from Easter.  True!  There were only about 10 total jars on display -- not the usual 10 cases, like most of their displays.

About 3/4 of the way through the store he says, "Okay, I think we're ready to go, now."   I quickly ticked off 7 or 8 additional items on our weekly list from the aisles we hadn't hit yet.  I knew I would never get him to back-track to the paper goods in the back of the store, but I was able to get most of the rest of our list before he sprinted out the door.  As he loaded the 36-can soda cases, cases of almond milk and other bulk items into the trunk, he exclaimed.  "Boy, this grocery shopping is really tiring!"   I didn't have the heart to tell him that this was 1/5 of the normal grocery shopping I do on my weekly trip.

Next stop was Starbucks for a giant 420 calories, 34g of sugar Iced Carmel Mocha Frappuccino or something like that -- I can never remember the names of those specialty drink in the giant cups with the whipped cream toppers-- to reward him for shopping with me....and, so I had an excuse to grab coffee beans and tick off one more of my weekly shopping stops.  It WAS nice to have his company -- a rare treat!  BUT, I'll need to make a second trip this week to finish the rest of our grocery list.

I looked over my posts this weeks and it looks like I've been on a flower kick.  I'm continuing that momentum with another flower card today using Grateful Bunch.  I began with a Whisper White basecard with a background created with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

I picked a Real Red polka dot paper from the  12 X 12 Designer Series Paper Stacks.   Then I grabbed a bunch of Whisper White scraps and stamped a bunch of Real Red daises from the Grateful Bunch stamp set, and punched them out with the Blossom Bunch punch.

I scattered the smallest of the three daisies onto the Whisper White portion of the card and layered the two larger daisies at the top of the card and accented each daisy with Basic Pearls.

The sentiment label was created with the Special Reasons stamp set and cut with the Stylish Stems Dies. The sentiment is from the Sunburst Sayings set.

I finished the card, looked at it, and kicked myself for the color I chose for the sentiment.  We have Memorial Day coming up in late May.  Using blue ink for the sentiment turns this card into a great, patriotic card for use in a few weeks.  I used Marina Mist on this final version and really liked how it turned out.

Recipe:

Stamp:  Grateful Bunch, Special Reason, Sunburst Sayings (Sentiment)

Paper:  Whisper White, Brights Designer Series Paper Stack
Accessories:    Stylish Stems Dies, Blossom Bunch Punch, Basic Pearls,  Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Standard Cutting Pads, Stampin' Scrub, Stampin' Mist, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

Flower Shop pansies set from Stampin' Up!

  • Flower Shop set makes lovely card
  • Sew new retired items added to the Clearance Rack

Lovely Flower Shop Pansies

Today I pulled out the Flower Shop set and quickly created this card to send my mother in Minnesota.  While it is full-on Spring in Houston, I know it is still freezing-cold where she lives.  I think this will cheer her up.

I used three stamp sets to create this card.  For the flowers, I used Flower Shop stamped in Craft Whisper White ink.  The stems are from the Touches of Textures set, and the sentiment is from the Designer Tin of Cards.  The ribbon is 5/8" Organza Ribbon in Whisper White.

I used the Elegant Dots Textured Impression folder to create the background behind the folders.  I cut a circle with the Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies.  I matted the Whisper White sentiment circle with a scalloped circle in Pear Pizzazz.    I added Basic Pearls to the center of each flower.

I like to photograph my cards in natural light.  The light was changing in my studio as I photographed these cards and I see the cards shift from bright white to a soft glow of sunlight.
I used the Pansy punch to  punch out each flower.

Recipe:

Stamp:  Touches of Texture (stems), Designer Tin of Cards (Sentiment)
Ink:  Pear Pizzazz, Craft Whisper White
Paper:  Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Vellum Cardstock
Accessories:    Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies, Layering Circles Framelits, Pansy Punch, Basic Pearls,  Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Stand Cutting Pads, Stampin' Scrub, Stampin' Mist, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

Affectionately Yours card and Amazige items added to Clearance Rack

  • Affectionately Yours Suite will retire May 31
  • Amazing, new retired items added to the Clearance Rack

Affectionately Yours Designer Series Paper

One of the most popular suites of products from the current big catalog is the Affectionately Yours Suite (on page 44).  Although this suite is retiring on May 31, I wanted to play with it again before it goes. Also, this is a great opportunity to pick up the Affectionately Yours Designer Series Paper (141632) which is on sale for 30% off on the retiring list.

I used one of the specialty papers from the Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack as my main focal point.  This paper includes gold embossing, which this photo doesn't pick up very well.  However, when you hold this card in your hands, the light bounces off the gold embossing and shouts "quality!"   This paper pack also includes  one sheet of copper embossed paper, which we used for a card in our card class this past week end, and this previous card which used another paper from this Specialty Paper pack.

I used the matching Love and Affection stamp set to stamp a flower, leaves, and the sentiment.  The DSP is matted in Night of Navy and mounted on a Mint Macaron card base.  The sentiment is stamped on a circle die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies, the banner tags were hand cut from three different papers, and a lace doily peeks out under the sentiment circle.  I added a Daffodil Delight enamel to the center of the stamped flower.

In addition to this Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP), this suite included the matching stamp set, an embossing folder, washi tape, ribbons and copper embellishments.   I'm really going to miss this stunning, dramatic suite when the current catalog retires at the end of May.

Recipe:

Stamp:  Love & Affection (141545)
Ink:  Night of Navy, Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush
Paper:  Whisper White, Mint Macaron, Night of Navy, Watermelon Wonder, In Color Designer Series Paper Stack, Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack (141632)
Accessories:    Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies, Lace Doilies (Occasions catalog), Brights enamels,  Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Stand Cutting Pads, Stampin' Scrub, Stampin' Mist, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

Amazing items added to the Clearance Rack

Stampin' Up! surprised us with a number of new items added to the Clearance Rack today.  Clearance Rack items are retired products that are available at deep discount, and only available while they last.  Check out these items in the on-line store.

One of my favorite retired items that showed up on the Clearance Rack today is the glitter ribbon pack that I used on yesterday's card.  I love this very soft ribbon because it makes puffy little bows that squash flat when mailed yet pop back to shape when the envelope is opened.  Although it shines like glitter, it DOESN'T flake all over your card.   It is a steal right now.  Originally $6.00 for the pack, it is on the clearance rack for $2.40.  Item number 142015.  Order it here.

3/8" Glitter Ribbon Combo Pack (142015)
