Paper, Ink and Stamps for a Quick Painted Poppies Card

A quick card using Painted Poppies

Although I have the coordinating dies for the Peaceful Poppies Suite, I've been playing with just the stamp sets in this Suite from the new January-June 2020 Mini Catalog that will go live for customers January 3.  This is another sneak peek so you get an early look at what you can make with the sets in this suite before you drop your hard-earned dollars on new products.  Today's card uses a technique perfect for the little flowers stamp in the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.  Instead of coloring each individual flower, simply stamp the background stamp and leave it at that!  Of course, I wanted a little more color on my flowers so the few that didn't have a colored background from the layering stamp, I quickly filled in with a Mongo Melody Blends Marker. Looking at the photo, the colors are a little darker than I expected.  I may redo the card stampin' off the Pumpkin Pie and Mango Melody as the flowers are a little lost on this version.

Card idea using Stampin' Up! Painted Poppies Stamp Set

I used a Mango Melody base card.  Then the main image is matted with Granny Apple Green.  The main image is Whisper White with the flowers stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

The stamp set includes background images that I stamped twice.  Once in Pumpkin Pie and once in Mango Melody.  The large flower images on the bottom of the card is also from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set. It is stamped in Mango Melody.

The sentiments are from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set, which is a second stamp set in the Peaceful Poppies Suite.  Each sentiment is stamped on Basic Black Cardstock using Versamark Ink and then covered with White Stampin' Emboss Powder.  Then, the sentiments were heat set using my Heat Tool.

I'm so impressed with the simple cards I can make with just the stamp sets in the Peaceful Poppies Suite.  These cards are just ink, paper and stamps.  (And a little embossing powder).  The suite includes so many great coordinating designer series paper, dies and embellishment, I can't wait to create additional cards using even more products from this suite. You'll love everything you make with this stamp set.

My current customers who have purchased within the past 6 months have now received their copies of the new January-June 2020 Mini Catalog.  You'll want to add the Peaceful Poppies Suite on pp. 24 of the catalog to your Shopping List.  Customers can begin ordering from the new catalog on January 3, 2020.  If you don't have a demonstrator and want a copy of the new, January - June 2020 Mini catalog, contact me.   I would love to be your Stampin' Up! Sneak Peek of Painted Poppies Stamp Set

Before I show you a sneak peek from the upcoming January-June 2020 Mini Catalog, I have to send a quick update to my customers.  Your Christmas Card may arrive late.  Today was one of those days.  I've been working on Christmas Cards since August.  Some weeks I maybe made half a dozen Christmas Cards; other weeks 30 or 40 cards.  And today was the day I set aside to address, write notes and planned a post office run to put my Christmas Cards in the mail before the post office closed today.

I brewed myself a large mug of fresh coffee, set up a work table in my office, laid out an assembly line, and set to work hand-writing return addresses, and personal notes.  The envelopes were all decorated.  The cards were ready for the envelopes.  As I worked on one of the piles of cards, I swiveled my office chair towards my computer to look up an address...and got side tracked looking through some messages on www.StampinConnection.com, a Demonstrator Site with different message boards.  When I finally turned back to my Christmas Card assembly line, I found that my 5-cup mug of fresh coffee had tipped over and although it had a top, the top was open, and fresh coffee was gurgling out the small opening, and had covered addressed-envelopes, cards and had seeped under a basket, containers with additional cards, and under a brand new computer I was in the process of setting up.  After thoroughly covering envelopes and cards on my table surface, coffee was also leaking off the edge of my work table onto my winter white carpeting leaving 4 large, dark puddles...Sigh.  So, into the garbage went a days worth of work. Most of the cards were saved or can be saved with new basecards, but the ink on the decorated, addressed envelopes were a runny, coffee-stained mess.    So it looks like it will be a very late night (maybe several late nights) if I want to get my cards into your hands before Christmas.

Needing a bit a cheering up, I finished a couple of cards using what I believe will be the hottest new suite in the upcoming 2020 January-June Mini Catalog.  Its called the Peaceful Poppies Suite.  It's one of the most complete suites in the new mini catalog, with two different stamp sets, both with coordinating dies, Designer Series Paper, Sequins, Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, and printed accents.

The card above uses elements from both the new Painted Poppies Stamp Set and the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set; the later being sentiments only.  The basecard is Mango Melon.  Then a layer of Granny Apple Green; then the images are stamped on the Whisper White layer.   The images were colored with Mango Melon Light and Dark Blends and the leaves and stems were colored with Granny Apple Light and Dark Blends Markers.  I masked several of the flowers before stamping the leaves and smaller flower images.

This second card uses a simple image from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set and one of the sentiments from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.  This second card uses the same colors as the card above.  Mango Melon basecard, Granny Apple Green layer and then the images were stamped on Whisper White.   Because this card was so simple, I wanted to add some interest.  I grabbed my Simply Scored Scoring tool and the retired diagonal plate for the Simply Scored Scoring tool, and added several lines around the simple stamped image.  The image was colored with the same Blends colors as the card above.

Both cards are simple layouts you'll use over and over again with different color combinations.

These two cards use only the stamp sets from the Peaceful Poppies Suite.  The images on these stamp cases provide so many ideas.  But wait until I show you more sneak peek cards in future blog posts using the coordinating Dies for these two sets.  You'll definitely want to begin planning your order from the new January - June 2020 Mini Catalog, now.  These are two you're going to want to order as soon as ordering begins. See item numbers below.   Customers can begin ordering January 3, 2020.

New catalogs begin shipping to my customers who have ordered from me during the past 6 months, and should be in your hands soon.  If you don't have a demonstrator and want a copy of the new catalog, contact me for copies of the new catalogs.   I would love to be your Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.
