Gold Poinsettia Christmas Card

  • Thinlits and Framelits create Gold Poinsettia card
  • Sneak peek from the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog
  • Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin BOGO - Aug 11-Oct 10 2016

Gold Poinsettia card using 4 different dies and no stamping

Stampin' Up! has a great punch, called Festive Flower Builder that creates wonderful poinsettias.  However, I've always wanted to create a more delicate looking poinsettia.  I found that the leaf from the May Flowers Framelits really does the trick!  This card is unique in that it requires no stamping, but uses four different Stampin' Up! dies.

Above is a close up of the poinsettia. Full size card is pictured below. I cut eight May Flowers Framelit leaves and positioned them on a 3/4 " circle with hot glue.  You'll need to lay down a layer of hot glue and position the first 4 leaves and then lay down a layer of hot glue on top of the centers of the first four leaves and position the next 4 leaves.  Using Gold foil paper, you are able to bend and mold the shapes of the leaves to get a more realistic look.

Gold Poinsettia using Stampin' Up! Thinlits and Framelits

I added a large gold enamel to the center to finish off the Poinsettia and added a couple more gold enamels for added interested.  I cut two banners using the Banners Framelits.  One in Gold foil and the other in Whisper White.  The Whisper White banner is embossed with the new Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, a sneak peek at one of the new products available in the Holiday Catalog September 1.  The word Peace is also cut from the Gold foil paper using the Christmas Greeting Thinlits.

Its so strange how some cards come together so quickly and make you so happy and others cause you to struggle for hours and still don't hit the right creative mark.  This is one of the easy ones!

Stamps: None
Ink: None
Paper: Heavy Whisper White,  Gold Foil Sheets

Accessories and tools:  Gold Enamel Shapes, Christmas Greeting Thinlits, May Flowers Framelits (leaf), Botanical Builder Framelits (modified to simulate pine needles), Banner Framelits, Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

A few more details.  I wanted something that looked like pine needles in addition to the new Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (Available Sept 1).  I found the "fern" die from the Botanical Builders Framelits can quickly be modified to look like pine needles by using your paper snips to make the fern leaves a bit narrower.

Stampin' Up! Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper

    • Candy Cane Lane
    • Candy Cane Christmas
    • Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin BOGO - Aug 11-Oct 10 2016

    Candy Cane Christmas

When I saw this paper, I knew it would become a favorite of mine.   I'm determined to get a jump on Christmas cards this year, so here's another card using Holiday catalog products that will be available September 1.

Stampin' Up! Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper

Above is a close up of the tag. Ful size card below. I used the label from the Baker's Box Thinlits to cut the label. To frame the label, I simply drew around the outside of the thinlit and cut out a frame for the Whisper White sentiment by hand. It produced a perfect frame!

Stampin' UP! Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper

Two different papers from the Candy Cane Lane packages were used. The Real Red Ribbon hides the seam. The candy is stamped in Real Red,punched out and mounted on a dimensional. I added a small Real Red enamel to the center of the candy.

    Stamps: Candy Cane Christmas (142040)
    Ink: Basic Black Archival
Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White,Real Red,  Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper (141981)
Accessories and tools:  Real Red Enamel Shapes - Brights (141681), 3/8" Real Red Stitched Satin Ribbon (141693), Dimentionals, Baker's Box Thinlits (Label)

Get a Jump on Christmas cards

While waiting for my new Holiday catalog order to arrive, I decided to start my Christmas cards, since I was in a holiday mood. I used the Detailed Ornament Thinlits die set, which coordinates with the Embellished Ornament stamp set.  My Holiday order arrived just as I was finishing these cards, and I decided to try the Merry Christmas sentiment stamps from the new Star of Light set (available Sept 1)

Stamps: Flourishing Phrases, Tin of Cards (Sentiment)
      Ink: Night of Navy
Paper: Thick Whisper White, Whisper White, Night of Navy,Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, Silver Glimmer Paper
Accessories and tools: Detailed Ornament Thinlit Die Set, Flourish Thinlits, Petal Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, New Platform, Precision Base Plate, Thin Die Adapter, Dimentionals, Basic Rhinestones

I love being a Demonstrator.  We're able to order from the Holiday catalog early and below is some of the stash I'm starting to play with.  If you're thinking of signing up to make extra cash during the holidays, new demonstrators who sign up this month can include Holiday catalog merchandise in their $99.00 Starter Kit.

I'm working on a lot more Holiday cards and projects that I'll be sharing with you using items from my first Holiday Catalog order. I'm already planning some classes, so stay tuned.

New Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog Stash

        Previous Project Redo

Remember the banner I showed you a couple weeks ago?  I kept looking at it and looking at it and it just didn't look substantial enough.   I added another layer in Night of Navy card stock using the Banners Framelits Dies...and it made a big difference, don't you think?

        Stampin' Up! Beautiful Banners

        Recipe:

Stamps: Beautiful Banners (141894),Layered Letters Alphabet Stamp (138692)
        Ink: Night of Navy
Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Night of Navy Card Stock

Accessories and tools: Banners Framelits Sweet & Sassy Framelits (hearts).

Beautiful Banners and Layered Letters Alphabet Stamps

I love that any banner can be personalized.  This one I sent to my Mom for her 94th birthday party.

When I sent her gift, I also include this card (below), the banner, and matching treat boxes.  I would normally fill treat boxes with chocolates, but this time of year, shipping from Houston to Minnesota, chocolates aren't an option.  Gummy candies make great treat fillers this time of year!

        Treat boxes

The Treat Box Tutorial was part of an earlier post, so you can check this previous post for treat box dimentions and instructions.

This is a small treat box made to match the card. It's easy to make using the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334).  I added a simple flower from the May Flowers Framelits (140276).

Above is the finished treat box

The treat box opens in the center and is made from a 4-1/4 X 11 sheet of card stock using the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

The box is hinged on both ends and folds opened and closed from the center.  You'll want to use Fast Fuse to glue the box together.  The Designer Series Paper is applied with Multipurpose liquid glue (110755).

Stampin' Up! Blooms & Bliss cards and matching treat box tutorial

        • Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog is coming in September

Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper

Stampin' Up! Blooms and Bliss DSP whimsical florals make lovely treat holders and card sets.  I used the  Blooms and Wishes stamp set and the Blossom Builder Punch alone with the Bunch of Blossoms three step stamp set for the more accents on this card and matching treat box.

Stampin' Up Bunch of Blossoms Stamp and Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper

Stampin' Up! Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper and Bunch of Blossoms Stamp

        Recipe:

Stamps: Bunch of Blossoms, Blooms & Wishes
Ink: Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry, Pink Pirouette
Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Whisper White,
        Blooms and Bliss
Accessories and tools: Blossom Builder Punch, Sweet Sugarplum 3/8" Ruched Ribbon, Basic Pearls, Basic Rhinestones.

Here's another card using Blossom Builder Punch that uses the same color combinations and uses papers from the Playful Pallet Designer Series Paper Stack.  I'm really in love with Sweet Sugarplum and all the coordinating Stampin' Up! papers.  Click the image for a larger view.

        Click for larger image

The two designer series papers coordinate well with each other as well as the ribbons and punches.

Stamps: Bunch of Blossoms, Designer Tin of Cards stamp set
Ink: Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry, Pink Pirouette
Paper: Whisper White, Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack, Basic Black
Accessories and tools: Blossom Builder Punch, Sweet Sugarplum 3/8" Ruched Ribbon, Basic Pearls

Stampin' Up! Blooms & Bliss Treat Box Tutorial

This is a small treat box made to match these two cards. It's easy to make using the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334).  I added another flower made with the Blossom Builder Punch and Bunch of Blossoms stamp set so that it coordinates with the two cards.

Above is the finished treat box

Here's what the treat box looks like without the Blossom Builder flower attached.

The treat box opens in the center and is made from a 4-1/4 X 11 sheet of card stock.  Using the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool, score:

        •  the long side of the 4-1/4 X 11 card stock at 7/8", 2-3/4", 3-3/4"; then flip the long side around and score from the other end of the long side 7/8", 2-3/4" and 3-3/4" on the opposite end of the long side.
        • The short side of the 4-1/4 X 11 card stock at 1", then flip the short side around and score at 1" on the opposite end of the short side.
        • Cut two 1" X 4-1/4" pieces of card stock.  These two pieces will be used to reinforce the open ends of the base of the box.
        • Score the 1" X 4-1/4" pieces on the long side at 1".  Then flip it to the opposite long side and score this long side at 1"
        • Cut up the sides to the score lines, mitering the smallest tabs
        • Cut in to the score lines at the ends.  Fold the ends in and glue
        • Glue the sides
        • Add 1- 4-1/4 pieces to each open end of the base box.
        • Add DSP
        • Add embellishments / flower to the cover.  I used a circle punch as the base for the flower and only glued 1/2 of the circle to one side of the opening.

The box is hinged on both ends and folds opened and closed from the center.  You'll want to use Fast Fuse to glue the box together.  The Designer Series Paper is applied with Tombal liquid glue.

We have so many news stamp sets and thinlits introduced with the new 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! catalog in June.  Its so much fun to try different combinations.

I finished another set of treat boxes
using this same treat box design as above, a happy birthday banner and matching card that I'll post tomorrow. Make sure you're signed up for my blog to receive my updates in you email.

Tips for using your Fast Fuse Adhesive

Here's a video to help you get the most from your Fast Fuse adhesive. Fast Fuse is a great adhesive for holding small boxes like the one shown above or where you need tape with a holding power greater than a standard Glue runner or  liquid glue.  With Fall crafting season about to begin, you'll be making lots of cute treat packages and hand made gifts in addition to cards and matching envelopes.  Be sure to add Fast Fuse adhesive to your next order.
