OnStage - Shreveport and a Perfect Mix card

Stampin' Up! Perfect Mix Stamp set

I'm still reeling from the pace of yesterday's OnStage all-day event to introduce the new catalog coming out in June to demonstrators.  I got up early to make this card.  Then I carried it around all day trying to find a stamp and a place to mail it.  I sill haven't found either a stamp or a place to mail this...sigh.  And I'm totally exhausted from the OnStage event and rushing back to the room to pour over the new catalog and finally place my premiere order.  More on that later.  First, today's card...using current catalog options.

This card is again using the Perfect Mix Stamp set.  I continued with the same color theme of Pool Party and Real Red and Basic Black for the sentiment that I used in the previous card.

I forgot my Real Red marker on my Shreveport trip to OnStage -- a girl can only carry so much of her craft room with her when she travels -- so I used an aqua painter and ink from the Real Red stamp pad to color the mixer, spatula handle and bowl.  I did have my Pool Party Write Marker with me, so I had that color covered.

The sentiment used was part of the mixer stamp.  It can be cut apart or covered with a sticky note, but it was easier and faster to use it as intended.  I put the mixer with  sentiment and the spatula all on the same clear block, which saved a couple of stamping step.

I stamped the mixing bowl in Basic Black, colored it, and fussy cut it before adding it to the card.  The left side of the bowl is popped up on dimensionals and the right side is just glued on since it already had two layers of cardstock beneath it.

Recipe:

Stamp:  Perfect Mix
Ink:  Real Red, Pool Party
Paper: Real Red, Pool Party, Whisper White,  Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack
Accessories:    Stampin' Scrub, Stampin' Mist, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

Post OnStage Shreveport

I'm still in Shreveport this morning following the OnStage event.  Wow!  What an action-packed day  Stampin' Up! changed up the agenda for the event to pack more into a little bit shorter day.  We saw so many great demos for inventive ways to use the new items in the upcoming June catalog.  Yes!  We saw copies of the new catalogs.  In fact, we left with our own copy, and a list of Premiere products we could order early as a bonus and many at discount for attending  OnStage.

We'll have our new catalog products in our hands with an extra month to create samples and swaps to share with customers when the June 1 catalog is released.  But we're currently under embargo from releasing any catalog views, so be patient.  They made us wait to open our make and take kits until after lunch!

Upon check in we received a bag that held our notebooks which included calendar pages, note pages for card ideas and taking notes.  The two pens included were not only pens, but the ends are for tapping on cell phones and tablets.  The pink pin included a symbol that was used for winning prizes from the Prize Patrol, and the Paper Pumpkin pin was given to us when we got a sneak peek at the April Paper Pumpkin kit designed by our CEO, Sara Douglas, which will include a free gift.  In total, I left the event with 4 new stamp sets, an assortment of new ribbons and 4 make and takes using new product samples.

Between swapping, meeting people I've only talked to on-line, photographing the display boards, making samples using some of the new stamp sets, Prize Patrols (we all love free stamps!),  watching winners walk the stage, seeing live messages from Amsterdam, watching live new product demos on stage in Shreveport, at the end of the day I barely had the energy to spend a couple hours looking through the new catalog and placing a big order for new catalog products.  Needless to say, I didn't complete yesterday's blog post.

So as an extra bonus today, I wanted to share a few of the swap sample using current products that I received.  I'll be adding more of them to my photo files on my Meetup site over the next couple of days.  When the embargo is lifted for showing new catalog products, I'll add some new catalog card samples as well.  Sign up for my blog posts in the right hand navigation column of my blog to receive email copies of my blog as soon as its published.

OnStage Eve- Shreveport

Stampin' Up! Perfect Mix Stamp set

I haven't used the Perfect Mix Stamp set much yet, so I decided today would be a good time to break it out.  I wanted to remind my mom of all the baking she did when I was a child.  Our home was always full of ladies having coffee together with lots of neighborhood children to play with while our moms talked over coffee and warm coffee cake.

This actually looks better in real life than these photos.  I really love Pool Party and Real Red together.  The hand saver were stamped on Whisper White in Real Red and Pool Party and then fussy cut before adding them to the card.  No ribbons; no sequins; no glimmer paper.  A pretty easy card.

The sentiment is also from the Perfect Mix set.  Its stamped in Archival Basic Black.  I printed a whole series of cards I found online using Perfect Mix and this color combinations a while ago, and just got around to trying the set today.   Of course, one of the cards was cut off and that probably had the name of the originator so I could give credit.  Thanks to whoever originated this series.  Contact me and I'll update this post with a link back to your original.

We'll, I'm in Shreveport this evening.  We have an OnStage Shreveport Facebook page and we're all chatting about our arrivals, best dinner locations, best site seeing and, of course, the rush to finish swaps.  I'm in pretty good shape with about 60 finished cards and 24 bunnies jelly bean gifts (which I posted yesterday), but I just put on a big pot of coffee and I'm going to assemble a few more cards until I'm too sleepy to continue.  Not too late, however.  I've learned that OnStage can be mentally taxing. The pace is pretty fast and we're getting a lot of new information in a very short, one-day event.  Between swapping, meeting new people, photographing the display boards, making samples using some of the new stamp sets, Prize Patrols (we all love free stamps!),  I'll need to stay one more night in Shreveport rather than trying to drive home (a 4 hour drive) at the end of the exhausting  OnStage day.

Plus, its a shame to go home without exploring a little bit of a city you've never visited before.  This is one of the interesting buildings I saw while waiting at a stop light during my drive into the city.  Time to get my Cajun on and get me some mudbugs!  (Boiled Crawfish...)  Some of the restaurants are still celebrating Cinco De Mayo and I've heard that you can even get your margaritas "to go"!

Stampin'; Up! Blushing Bride Dragonfly

  • Blushing Bride Dragonfly
  • Preparing for Shreveport OnStage Event April 8
  • Retiring List announcement April 10

Sweet Sugarplum Glitter Ribbon

I found some Sweet Sugarplum Glitter Ribbon from the Holiday catalog among my ribbon stash.  As I fingered its soft, pliable surface, I held it up to some Blushing Bride cardstock and Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and decided it was too nice to let this lovely ribbon languish among my retired ribbons.

I quickly put together this card using papers from the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper pack and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies.   The sentiment oval is Very Vanilla and Hello is stamped in Old Olive, which is one of the soft colors in the Falling in Love DSP.

The sentiment is from the Flourishing Phrases, one of my go-to sets for sentiments.   The Very Vanilla oval is cut using the Stitched Shaped Framelit Dies.

The dragonflies are popped up on dimensionals to finish this card. This was a fast card to make, which I rushed to completed as I still need to finish swaps and pack for Shreveport OnStage event.

Recipe:

Stamp:  Flourishing Phrases
Ink:  Old Olive
Paper: Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper,  Falling In Love Designer Series Paper
Accessories:   3/8" Glitter Ribbon Combo Pack (retired from the Holiday Catalog), ,  Stitched Shapes Framelit dies, Big Shot, Big Shot Cutting Pads, Stampin' Scrub, Stampin' Mist, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

I'm glad today's card came together quickly as I'm finishing swaps for the  Stampin' Up!OnStage event, April 8.  Some of the swaps are these cute Bunny Buddies Paper Pumpkin kit.  This is an alternative idea for using the little cards included in the kit.

I stamped the bunny images so the fold was at the top of the card and could be used as a topper for the 2 " X 8" (141703) Cellophane Bags.  I filled the Cellophane bags  jelly beans, folded over the top, stapled the cellophane bags shut and then glued them inside the Bunny Buddies  bag toppers with Fast Fuse.  I'm head to the Shreveport OnStage tomorrow, so I better get packing!

April 8 - Demonstrators attending OnStage will see the new catalog coming out June 1, demos of new sets, display boards with samples for using new sets, and we'll likely get to order some of the new sets early at an additional discount.  We'll also stamp some samples with new sets, and Prize Patrol means we'll likely receive a few free sets while we're at the event.  I'm already jumping up and down.  I love getting new stamps!!  And I love free stamps even more!

April 10 - Retiring list released
Many retiring items will sell out quickly.  If you plan to order In Color reinkers for your retiring In Color stamp pads, think about ordering now or within a few hours of the Retiring List release on April 10.   I always get a call about a week after the In Colors have sold out from someone who waited too long to order their favorite retiring In Color and we spend hours on line looking for someone who happened to order an extra reinker.

Here are the item numbers you'll need to place an order for 2015-2017 In Color items that will retire:

April 13 - Demonstrators who didn't attend OnStage on April 8  will find many of the videos from the event  available April 13.  Stampin' Up! will post videos at the OnStage Online link on the demonstrator-only site.

Demonstrators will want to plan now to attend the November 11 OnStage, the next event, to gain early access to upcoming catalogs, get free stamps, and order early with OnStage discounts only available to OnStage live attendees.
