Blends and Count My Blessings team up to produce a beautiful handmade card

A beautiful card using Blends with Count My Blessings

A really fast Friday card as I watched Houston celebrating our Astros baseball team with a ticker tape parade and people wading in the reflecting fountains in down town Houston because of the heat. . . on November 3, no less!

I sat down with a couple of blends and a printed sheet from Just Add Color Specialty Designer Paper to spend a little time playing with the new Blends alcohol pens.  I love that they apply color without leaving  marker streaks, like our Stampin' Up! markers.  I was actually able to achieve the shading I wanted only using one pen.  I started with the lighter color in the center and worked out to the edges.  Then I went over the edges I wanted to highlight a second time, and the extra ink added the perfect amount of shading.  You are going to love these Blends pens!  Add them to your Wish List today!.

The basecard for my card today is Sweet Sugarplum.  Then a layer of Rich Razzleberry, then the sheet I colored with Blends from the Just Add Color Specialty Designer Series Paper Package.

I took one of our Metallic snowflakes and turned it over to the white side and then used the light Sweet Sugarplum Blends to color the snowflake.  The tip I'll pass on is to use the side of the thicker brush end of your Blends in quick, light strokes to add color to the snowflake.

The image from the Count My Blessings set was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, and then the flower image was colored with Rich Razzleberry Light Blends.  The leaves and stems were colored with the light Old Olive Blends.    The Whisper White image layer and the Sweet Sugarplum scalloped layer were cut using the Oval Layering Framelits.

The sentiment is also from the Count My Blessings set, and was stamped on Whisper White with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  The  Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum tags were layered together under the sentiment.

Above are the two Blends I used on this card.  Below is what a full set of Blends looks like.  Customers can now purchase the entire set of Blends.  Or they can be purchased in two-packs (a light and dark), or each pen can be purchased individually.  I know I'm going to be reordering the Old Olive light and the Sweet Sugarplum light as I love that color combination and will likely be using those two from my set the most. The set would make a great Christmas Gift for yourself.  Its not too early to start dropping hints to those you know will be looking for gift ideas for you.

Purchase the entire set of Stampin' Up! Alcohol Blends or each color individually.
