Valentine's Memory Keepsake Box

  • A Valentine Memory Keepsake Box idea

So what do you do when you’ve again tried to do too many things over the holidays…and found there just wasn’t time to finish every project you started?  Remember the $40 Christmas Memory Box Project?  I saw it at Convention in July and fell in love with this kit.  Then it was offered free starter kits.  Later it was offered as a magazine promotion.  Well, my kit sat through the fall, and Holidays.  This week end I finally found time to work on it… and decided to turn it into a Valentine’s Memory Box Project instead!

Here’s what it looks like:

I used the basic supplies with the kit for the sides and the cover.  However, I didn’t use the fabric.  Instead I substituted Red Glimmer paper and die cuts using the new Hearts Collection Framelits Dies from the Occasions Mini catalog and a few designer buttons, ribbons from the kit, one of the new larger half-back pearls (although the kit includes a whole pack of the Pearl Basics), and new Trinket Hearts, also from the new Occasions Mini catalog.

Best of all, the original kit is now on the Clearance Rack for a fraction of its original price --- only $11.97!!!!...while it lasts.  The keepsake box alone is worth at least that much!  The kit included many more items to use including the Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon, Real Red 5/8” Grosgrain Ribbon, Victoria 5/8” Crochet Trim, Champagne Fine Galaxy Stampin’ Glitter, 1 pkg of Pearl Basic Jewels, Linen Thred, and a Vanilla Pearl ½” Simply Adorned Bauble -- all included with the kit!

One of my favorites from the new catalog is the new Designer Rosette Bigz XL Die.  Yes, I know we now have the wonderful Simply Scored Scoring Tool, but this new die is such a time-saver!!  I can’t stop using it.  It features two designer edges and it spaces the folds at ½” – my most used size when making rosettes.
Here are the products I used to make this project.  Order any of these products from my Stampin’ Up! Store for the best prices.

Recipe:
  • Stamps:  Delightful Dozen (Sentiment) (122650-W, 122652-C)
  • Paper:   All the papers came from the kit except these four:  Real Red, Whisper White, Red Glimmer Paper (121790), and the Black and White Houndstooth is from Simply Scrapping Tickets and Tag kit (122373)
  • Ink:  Black Staz-on
  • Accessories: Christmas Memory Box Kit on Clearance (129024), Hearts Collection Framelet Dis (125599), Designer Rosette Bigz XL Die (125594), Trinket Hearts (125605), Large Pearl Basic Jewels (125577), Designer Frames, Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Set (123130), Extra Large Oval Punch (119859), 1-1/4 Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon(Included in the kit), 5/8” Real Red Satin Ribbon, (117286)(the kit comes with Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon),  Victoria Crochet Trim – 5/8” (118381, although some is included in the kit), Garden Green Regal Designer Buttons (119744), Large Pearl Basic Jewels (125577), Big Shot Die Cut machine.

Here's a close up of some of the details:

What a great project to do with a bunch of your friends!

A couple of great storage tips for new dies!!
One of the best storage solutions for your new Hearts Collection Framelits Dies is one of the emty Clear Mount storages boxes (119105) --four empty platic cased to a package.  I then cut 1" strips from Stampin' Up Magnet Sheets (119816) and stuck them to the inside of the case.

I inserted the package label that came with the dies in side the storage box covers..  The new dies now nest together and are held in place neatly.
