Fast Holiday card using Stampin' Up! Flourish Filigree

Flourish Filigree Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

Here's a fast Holiday card idea you can create in minutes.  Using a large, focal-point stamp like the stamps in Flourish Filigree quickly creates a focal point.  Then simply add a sentiment and a bow and you're done!  I wanted to compliment the silver thread running through the reversible ribbon, so I Gold embossed one of the sentiments from the Flourish Filigree Snowfall Thinlits on White Vellum Cardstock.

The basecard for this Holiday card is Thick Whisper White.  Then a layer of Merry Merlot, and then a layer of Whisper White.

The filigree image is stamped in Merry Merlot ink.

Then I selected the "Sending Thankful Thoughts" stamp from the Stampin' Up! Flourish Filigree stamp set to heat emboss on a layer of Vellum Cardstock.  I dusted the vellum with my Embossing Buddy, inked my sentiment in Versamark, and stamped the sentiment.  Then I covered the wet sentiment with Gold Embossing Powder and set it with my Heat Tool.  Tip:  When heat embossing vellum, take care not to burn your vellum.  I use  a wooden clothes pin or a tweezers to hold my paper while heat setting the embossing powder.  I also start heating from the back side of the vellum and keep the Heat Gun moving until the embossing powder is almost set.  Then I finish heating on the front side for just a moment.

Since glue dots or glue show through vellum, I rolled my glue dots and placed one behind the letter T and another behind the letter L in the sentiment.  I also added Gold Faceted Gems to each end of the vellum sentiment strip and hid a Mini Glue Dot under each of the Faceted Gems.

The Merry Merlot ribbon ties easily to create beautiful bows for the upper, left corner of the card.

Take a look at other sets and dies available in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  Order your holiday stamp sets and dies soon so you'll have them in plenty of time to create your handmade holiday cards.

Need an idea for a fast handmade Christmas Card?

  • Gold embossed Frosted Medallion card
  • Holiday Catalog Retiring List
  • Stampin' Up! Year End Close Out Sale

Frosted Medallion Christmas Cards

Frosted Medallions Gold embossed Christmas Card

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Occasions catalog order.  I've tacked it to a city 3 hours away from me, so it should be here tomorrow!

Embossing the Frosted Medallions stamp add dramatic flair to this Christmas Card

Meanwhile, I'm working on Christmas cards and just finished one using the Frosted Medallions set from the Holiday catalog.  This was really simply.  Basic Black bakcground with a layer of Gold Foil.

Your handmade cards will rival any commercial card your friends and family will receive

The Frosted Medallion image is gold embossed, along with the Merry Christmas Sentiment from the Greetings from Santa set. The ribbon is 5/8" Gold Satin Ribbon.  This was a very fast, easy card, but very hard to photograph!  The photo doesn't do it justice.

Stamps: Frosted Medallions set, Greetings from Santa (sentiment)
Ink: Versamark,

Paper: Basic Black, Gold Foil Sheets
Accessories:  Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Aqua Painter, Stampin' Dimensionals, Block E, Block H, Stampin' Scrub,

There's still time to order this stamp set to make your own cards.  Here are product numbers for the products used on this card.
