Butterfly Beauty Birthday Card

  • Stampin' Up! Butterfly Beauty Birthday
  • Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper
  • Wonderful Family April Paper Pumpkin-A Kit Perfect for these times

Stampin' Up! Butterfly Beauty

During these challenging times, our time crafting is especially important to help relieve stress as we're dealing with fears arising from the coronavirus pandemic and the economic problems caused by this public health problem.  Taking all necessary precautions, and self-care is extremely important so we can help those around us deal with their issues.  The good news is it won't last forever.  This is only temporary.  As crafters, we're probably in good shape as we're likely all have a stash of paper craft supplies.  We can go to our happy place, and work from our existing stash to reduce our stress rather than buying more when we have so much uncertainty in the weeks ahead.

I'm going to take this opportunity to learn new techniques by watching videos on the Stampin' Up! YouTube channel, and I'm going to work with some of my retied stash as well as my current stash. I encourage you to do the same.  It's an important time for us to support each other, and I want you to know that I'm here to help you through this difficult time with a little crafting relief.  Yesterday's post included some ideas for using time while we're (mostly) at home.  Today's card uses a mix of retired products and current products to create this beautiful butterfly card.

The basecard for today's card is Thick Whisper White.  Then a Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper.  This is a retired Designer Series Paper from last year's annual catalog.  However, you'll find floral prints from the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper or a floral print from the Best Dressed 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper pack --both from the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog-- would also work for this card as well.  The card face includes a punched slot, using the Classic Label Punch, punched twice to get the length of the opening needed.

The butterfly is created using the Butterfly Beauty Dies, Basic Black Cardstock and Old Olive vellum from the Perennial Essence 12" X 12" Vellum Cardstock.  The butterfly is actually attached to the inside layer, and when the card is opened, the butterfly slips through the opening created with the Classic Label Punch.  Another smaller butterfly on the inside of the card also uses the Butterfly Beauty dies.   The Leaf Punch is used to create two additional accent piece, and another element is created with one of the dies from Butterfly Beauty using Old Olive cardstock.

The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.  I stamped it in Calypso Coral ink.  Again, you're likely to have a sentiment stamp from your current stash you can use to duplicate this card.

This is the perfect time to use your current stash of craft supplies as you spend some time in your Happy Place.  Time is our friend.  In time we'll get past this.  But today, it's so important to make a list of vulnerable friends and family that need a note of cheer, a friendly hello, or a note of appreciation to help them pass the time.  Our healthcare workers, grocery store staff, and public service people are high on my list of cards to send.    A handmade card from you would likely be highly appreciated.

If you don't have a demonstrator and want a copy of the January-June 2020 Mini catalogcontact me.   I would love to be your Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

Crafters: How to Pass the time While You're at Home

  • Let's get started with some fun ideas for productively using our stay-at-home time
  • Join the COVID-19 Card Challenge

How to pass the time while you're at home

Burned through your prerecorded TV shows and new Netflix movies?  Many of us are going to have some extra time on our hands in the coming couple of weeks.  I'm sure there are things you haven't had time to do or things you've always wanted to learn, and things you've wanted to reorganize.  Well, this is a perfect time!  Don't sit around waiting for bad things to roll out. Use this time to move forward.

Here's some ideas to help you pass the time:

  • Purchase craft kits to help keep your kidos busy  Our Stampin' Up! All-inclusive Kits like Three Cheers for You, Item #151304, on page 59 of the January-June 2020 Mini catalog is one great alternative.  There are several more kits to consider in the annual Stampin' Up! catalog.
  • Pull out all of your Paper Pumpkin kits that you haven't yet assembled and make some great cards to send to family and fiends to let them know you're thinking of them.   If it was a kit you didn't assemble because it wasn't a project you liked, look on line for Paper Pumpkin alternatives and find samples of alternative projects using the contents of your kit.  Google, Pinterest, and Stampin' Up! Demonstrator blogs are all great resources for alternative ideas for your Paper Pumpkin Kits.
  • Organize your Paper Pumpkin stamps into Stamp Cases.  Order Standard Stamp Cases, Item # 119015.   Then, join the Facebook group, Paper Pumpkin Fan Club, go to the files for the group and download the monthly Paper Pumpkin inserts for your Stamp Cases.  Make sure to order the April Paper Pumpkin Kit to have something new to work on.
  • Organize your craft room.  If you haven't yet ordered the Storage by Stampin' Up! for your ink pads and accessories, this is a great time to reorganize your craft room work area so that you maximize your time creating.
  • This is a great time for you to post your retired Stampin' Up! items on neighborhood boards, eBay, or Sell/ISO Facebook sites.
  • Make a list of birthdays and anniversaries coming up in the next few months and make a supply of cards to send when you need them instead of rushing at the last minute.
  • Join Stampin' Up! as a Demonstrator to make some extra money,  and start a blog to promote your new business.  Join by March 31 for extra sign-up bonus
  • You've wanted to learn how to use some of your new Stampin' Up! stamps and dies.  This is a great time to spend some time on the Stampin' Up! YouTube channel.  Subscribe to the Channel.  Then binge watch  all of the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog videos and the Sale-A- Bration product videos for fun ideas you'll love to try on your own.

  Join the COVID-19 card challenge!

We can't wait to beat the COVID-19 virus to an early death.  Show us your fun card ideas for stampin' out COVID-19 using any Stampin' Up! stamps -- current or retired -- and I'll pick two winners on Tuesday, March 31 to receive free stamp sets I'll mail to you. USA entries only.

In the comments below, send me a link to your blog, Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest location where you've posted your card.  With your permission, I will re-post your card on my Stamped Sophisticates.com blog with a return link to your post.  Fun?
