Ordering begins for Share What You Love Suite

I came across an old card today as I was sorting through my craft room in preparation for the new catalog preorder I placed early this morning. (A benefit of being a demonstrator)  I decided to try and recreate the look of this old card with current sets.  Of course, the Share What you Love suite was still on my work surface, so I reached for the embossing folder and stamp set and paired it with the Amazing You Sale-A-Bration set in order to create this card.

I began with a Crumb Cake basecard.  Then a layer of Night of Navy, and then another layer of Crumb Cake.

I stamped the smaller piece of Crumb Cake with the Amazing You set, I earned for free during Sale-A_Bration, and then a couple of stems from the Love What You Do Stamp Set with Night of Navy ink.

I then inked up the Lovely Floral embossing folder with Night of Navy ink and ran it through Big Shot with another piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.   Then I fussy cut around the outside of the  flower and stems created with the Lovely Floral embossing folder, and popped up the flower image on Dimensional.  Word of warning:  This fussy cutting took quite a bit of time.  Great for a special, one-of-a kind card for a very special friend or family member.  I don't recommend this treatment if you need to make multiples of this card.

To create the sentiment, I used the Make a Difference stamp set, an alphabet set that is part of the Share What You Love suite.  This is a great alphabet set with double letters for several letters, and several tiny  sentiments like "from the desk of" for making personalized cards, a Stampin' Up! copyright for the back of your handcrafted card to help you meet the Angle Policy,  "Handmade by", "This belongs to", and several other useful sentiments for the avid crafter, baker, or book owner for personalizing your work or marking what you own.

I selected the letters from the Make a Difference stamp set to make "Hello" and die cut the sentiment with an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Then I selected a coordinating scalloped oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits and cut a mat for the sentiment out of Night of Navy.  I cut a small piece of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon to place behind the sentiment.

I'm pleased at the different look I was able to create with the Share What You Love suite that I've been highlighting on my blog over the past couple of weeks.  When you can stretch a suite to create many different looks, it helps justify the purchase.

Previous blog posts included details of the three prerelease Share What You Love bundles from the new catalog that you can purchase prior to the June catalog release.  Download a flyer here to see details of each bundle, the free gifts in each bundle and the new In Color stamp pads you can purchase today.

  1. Hello, what did you use to outline the flowers and other pieces?

  2. The flower outlines were created with the flower stamp from the Sale-A-Bration set called, Amazing You. The flower in the center of the card was created by inking one side of the Lovely Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder with Night of Navy Ink. I used Crumb Cake cardstock to create the dry embossed flower. After I ran it through the Big Shot, I fussy cut the embossed flower out of the Crumb Cake cardstock. What I love is that the Night of Navy ink remained on the non-raised part and the raised part remained Crumb Cake. Its a fun technique, but a little time consuming because of the fussy cutting. I was in a hurry so I just smeared the Night of Navy ink directly onto the Lovely Floral embossing folder. In the past, I've gotten better coverage using a brayer to spread ink from the ink pad onto one side of the embossing folder.
