Stampin' Up! Winter Woods with Red Ribbon

Big, Luscious Real Red Ribbon.  Nothing says Christmas Cards like bold, red ribbon.  I know, I know.  It's bulky, hard to fit into an envelope, and may even cost more to mail.  But it is one of those small luxuries that is sooo worth it in my mind.  And Stampin' Up! ribbons are on beyond compare.  They've outdone themselves with the beautiful, 1", soft, easy-to-tie ribbon.  It is so effortless to work with, you'll want to use it on cards, treat holders, and holiday packages.  I may order an extra roll or two to use on Valentines in a couple of months, also!  Check out this Real Red Ruched Ribbon on page 7 of the  Holiday Catalog.

The ribbon on this card dresses up a simple card and sets the right tone for a holiday greeting.  The base card is Thick Very Vanilla.  Then a layer of Real Red Cardstock.  Then the image layer is another layer of Very Vanilla.

The tree image is from the Winter Woods stamp set, a carry-over set from last Holiday Catalog that you'll now find in the Stampin' Up! annual catalog.  It includes a set of coordinating dies called In the Woods Dies.  I stamped the tree in Crumb Cake on my Very Vanilla Layer.  Then I took a separate 5-1/2 X 4-1/4" piece of cardstock and cut the tree image out of this separate layer.  I wanted to add some additional sparkle to the card, so I filled a Stampin' Spritzer with several drops of Frost White Shimmer Paint and filled it to the top with 80% alcohol.  Then, using the tree cut-out as a mask, I sprayed the tree image with the Frost White Shimmer Paint and alcohol blend.  It took a moment or two to dry, and the tree sparkled...well, like Christmas morning!

Once I got started, I couldn't stop making these pretty cards.  I use the Crumb Cake ink and the Season's Greeting sentiment and the small stars stamp from the So Many Stars Stamp set to complete this simple, fast card.

You'll find so many uses for this stamp set as it creates beautiful cards alone, or use the trees from this stamp as backgrounds for Fall and Holiday cards.  To get the most use out of your Fall and Holiday purchases, order them this month so you have plenty of time to work on your Fall, Thanksgiving, and Christmas projects.  You'll love what you create with his set.
