A different coloring technique using Pastel Chalk and Stampin' Up! Splendid Thoughts Bundle

  • Stampin' Up! Splendid Thoughts Bundle
  • Upcoming Paper Pumpkin Procrastinators Meetup - Oct 13, 2022
  • Join Stampin' Up! during October and get $155 in merchandise for $99
Today was another weekly virtual Mystery Card stamping event, together with Stampin' Up! home office and Demonstrators from across the USA.  Today's session was led by Shannon West and Natalie Wallick White, two Demonstrator Development Managers (DDMs) from Stampin' Up!  They give us all of the card dimensions and a list of supplies we would use to precut our cardstock and collect our supplies before the event began.  Then, we all completed our cards together, learning a new technique with chalk.  Then created demonstrators posted their versions of the cards showcasing different interpretations of the card created by Shannon and Natalie.

Today, we used Stampin' Up! Soft Pastels Assortment |Item 154585 | $9.00 USD along with the Splendid thoughts Bundle to create these cards.  We stamped the spots from the Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set using Versamark Ink, and then chalked over the spots with different colors from the Soft Pastels Assortment.  We then used Sponges or Sponge Daubers to blend the chalk colors and remove the excess chalk powder.  We added die cuts from the Splendid Stems Die,  added an embossed sentiment from Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set on a Basic Black Cardstock circle. I added a few Black Matte Dots and a Basic White layer dry embossed with the Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder.

Two greeting cards with different color combinations created using Soft Pastel Chalks from Stampin' Up!

This card uses a basecard of Basic White Cardstock.  Then another layer of Basic White Cardstock dry embossed using the Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder.  Then y Basic White image layer is matted witha piece of Basic Black Cardstock.

Cheery greeting card using Stampin' Up! Splendid Thoughts Bundle

Next, I stamped the dot pattern from the Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set in VersaMark ink multiple times on my Basic White image layer.  I selected three different colored chalk from the Stampin' Up! Soft Pastels, and rubbed each color over 1/3 of the Basic White, blending the lines between the colors slightly.  I used a Sponge Dauber to rub the excess chalk dust from the piece.

Cards using Soft Pastel Chalks and the Stampin' Up! Splendid Thoughts Bundle

Using the Splendid Stems Dies, I die cut three different stems from Basic White Cardstock and layered them over the chalked image layer.  To finish the card, I stamped the sentiments in VersaMark ink, covered them with White Embossing Powder, and set them with my heat tool.  I added a few Matte Black Dots to the corner and image layer of my card.  What a fun technique!  You'll love trying this technique and coming up with with your own designs.

The Splendid Day Suite will be used for Demonstrator-only Mystery Card weekly stamping events for demonstrators the entire month of October. These are the kind of fun activities Demonstrators from around the USA participate in together.  Of course we have plenty of live stampin' events as well.  From local Demonstrator-led events to yearly Demonstrator-only conventions, Leadership events, and several customers and demonstrator virtual events like the recent World Card Making Day on 1 October!

Classic Roses in Abigail Rose Suite creates Beautiful floral Greeting Cards

  • Join us This Thursday for Paper Pumpkin Procrastinators Meetup - Oct 13, 2022
  • Stampin' Up! Starter Kit Special during October. Get $155 in merchandise for $99
I love making cards as the mood strikes me.  So I often jump from stamp set to stamp set from one day to the next.  However, it's fun to look back at a collection of cards all using the stamp stamp set to see the different styles of cards created from a single suite of products.    Today, I decided to highlight the cards I've created using Cottage Rose, from the Abigail Rose Suite.  This is a complete suite that includes the Cottage Rose Stamp and Dies Bundle, plus coordinating Abigail 12" X 12" Designer Series Paper , and 7/8" Natural Finish Ribbon.  When I'm deciding on which sets to order from a catalog , I love to look at multiple samples of projects to ensure it is a versatile set to add to my collection.  Stampin' Up shows a number of beautiful projects on page 56 of the Annual Catalog.  My samples used a Pale Papaya, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso theme for the most part, but you also see other ideas you may want to CASE.  Please feel free to do so!  Take a look at the close ups of each card, below.

Although most of the floral designs in the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper, I loved this tulip design.  While I decided to leave the tulips white, to showcase the White Frayed Ribbon, you can color the tulips with watercolor pencils or blends for a completely different look.  To see the recipe for this card, look here.
