Results of a Stampin' Up! Demonstrators Mystery Stamping using Stampin' Up! Masking Paper

  • Stampin' Up! Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set
  • Ho Ho Ho Paper Pumpkin add-on gift sacks and October Assembly Video
  • Join Stampin' Up! during October and get $155 in merchandise for $99
Today was the final weekly virtual Mystery Card stamping event, put on by Stampin' Up! home office for Demonstrators across the USA during October.  They give us the card dimensions and a list of supplies we would use to precut our cardstock and collect our supplies before the virtual event began.  Then, we all completed our cards together, learning a new technique with Masking Paper and Blending Brushes.

If you haven't tried Stampin' Up! Masking Paper, you're in for a lot of new techniques.  This unique paper can be used to create stencils by stamping a design on the masking paper and cutting it out with scissors, dies or punches, then use it to mask an area while you stamp a design around the covered area without worrying that the images overlapping each other.  Stampin' Up! Masking Paper is item #155480 | $7.00 USD.   We used it to create this fun, one-layer card.  We masked horizontal areas, and then used Blending Brushes and three different ink colors to create a Fall color palate.  Then we used images from the Stampin' Up! Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set and stamped them in Cajun Craze ink onto our card front.  We finished our fast card with a few 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds and sentiments from the Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set.

Simple one-layer handmade card using Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set

Begin by using the Masking Paper, which is sticky throughout, to make off the Thick Basic White Cardstock used as the basecard.  You don't need to put much pressure on the Masking Paper, as it is quite sticky.  In fact, if you find the Masking Paper is too sticky, you can use your Embossing Buddy to tamp down the stickiness of the Masking Paper.  Once both a lower and upper layer of Masking Paper is in place, begin using your Blending Brush and blend Mango Melody over the right hand side of the strip of Basic White Cardstock.  Then, switch to Pumpkin Pie ink pad and blend Pumpkin Pie on the other half of the unmasked area. Then, very carefully and slowly, peel the Making Paper off, and use it again to mask an area above the inked area you just created.

Next, I used Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad and Cajun Craze Ink Pad and Blending Brushes to ink the second masked area.  Once the Masking Paper was carefully removed, I used stamps from the Splendid Thoughts Stamp Set, and stamped images on the Bended areas and on the basic White Cardstock.

To complete the card, I used 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds to add a little bling. I selected sentiments from the Splendid Thoughts Stamp set, and stamped them in Cajun Craze Ink onto the inked area.   You'll love trying this technique and coming up with with your own color choices and designs.

The Splendid thoughts Stamp Set from the Splendid Day Suite was used for Demonstrator-only Mystery Card weekly stamping events for demonstrators throughout October. These are the kind of fun activities Demonstrators from around the USA participate in together.  Of course we have plenty of live stampin' events as well.  From local Demonstrator-led events to yearly Demonstrator-only conventions, Leadership events, and several customers and demonstrator virtual events like the recent World Card Making Day on 1 October!
