Stampin' Up! Inspiring Iris

Today I felt like I needed to use some bright colors to match the beautiful Spring we're having in Houston.  I started by punching the edges of the Granny Apple Green cardstock using the Braided Border Punch.  Then I used the Inspiring Iris Stamp Set to add lovely shades of purple to create the Iris images.   I wanted to show you a close up of the Iris image because it is created with two-step stamps that also creates textures.   The Inspiring Irish stamp set from Stampin' Up! is from the Annual Catalog.

The basecard for today's card is Granny Apple Green.  The trick to aligning the punching on both edges is to use the Border Punch one one edge, punching on the right side of the card front, turn the card front to the back side and punch the opposite edge from the back side of the card front.   Then I added a small layer of Highland Heather and a slightly smaller layer of Purple Posy.

I stamped the Iris image from Inspiring Iris in Gorgeous Grape.  Then the I used the two step stamp for the leaves using Granny Apple Green Ink.  There is another two-step stamp for the iris heads, which I stamped in Highland Heather.  .

I added a knotted Purple 3/8" Tricolor Ribbon to the base of the Irises.  The Happy Easter sentiment is from the Welcome Easter Stamp Set from the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog.  However, this could just as easily be a Happy Spring card or a Happy Mother's Day Card.  I added some of the Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins to the top of the card to balance it out visually.

This is the perfect time to use your current stash of craft supplies as you spend some time in your Happy Stampin' Place.  Make a list of  friends, neighbors, and family that need a note of cheer, a friendly hello, or a note of appreciation to help them pass the time.  This is a great time to start your Easter Cards, Mother & Fathers Day Cards and any upcoming Birthday Cards you'll need.   Let's keep stampin' to take our mind off the news while we enjoy our time at home.  Sending handmade cards is a great way to stay in touch when you can't be with distant loved ones and will be greatly appreciated during trying times.

Butterfly Card: Springtime Impressions Dies

Wow.  What a fun, crazy day.  Since we've all been home for 3 or 4 days, suddenly everyone is reaching out to each other:  my family, my husband's family, friends, neighbors, customers, stamping friends.  Everyone wanted to "check in" today.  Facetime, text messages, mailed cards, Facebook Live.  At one point I was texting with 8 people at the same time!  And between contacts I was listening to on-line Social Media Marketing Classes that I thought would be a great way to spend extra time until I can begin holding live classes again.  Needless to say I didn't spend any time in my craft room today.  So I'm going to show you one of the cards I made at a recent shoe box swap.  The card was designed by my friend Carol Cory here in Houston, TX, and she also hosted the shoe box swap.  (Thanks, Carole!  We had so much fun!)

I really like this card because it uses stamp sets and dies that I have on hand from the annual catalog as well as some of my newer January-July 2020 Mini sets.

The basecard for today's card is Blackberry Bliss.  Then a Whisper White layer stamped with images from the Positive Thoughts Stamp set using Sahara Sand and Blackberry Bliss ink.

The butterfly is created using the Springtime Impressions Dies.  Cut one in Sahara Sand and the other from Blackberry Bliss Cardstock.  Its mounted on a image layer of Whisper White and matted in Blackberry Bliss.

The sentiment is from the Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set and stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink.  Below the sentiment is a die cut from the Flourish Dies from Sahara Sand Cardstock.  The accents on the butterfly are Metallic Pearls and a Pearl Basic Jewels colored with a Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Marker.

Below is a close-up of the two layers of the butterfly die.  The Blackberry Bliss Cardstock sets off the Sahara Sand cardstock beautifully.   If you don't have these exact dies and stamps, look through your existing sets and you're sure to find a floral set and butterfly dies you could use with minor changes to the card layout.

Note:   Stampin' Up! Riverton Utah office experiences 5.7 magnitude earthquake yesterday morning

Yesterday morning Stampin' Up! experienced a 5.7 magnitude earthquake and several aftershocks in Utah, which shook the Riverton office.  Employees were unharmed and the office appears undamaged at this point.  All Riverton campus employees were sent home yesterday as a safety precaution.  Support lines were also closed for the remainder of yesterday.  The good news is that today the Riverton campus was back to normal.  We apologize for any inconvenience this caused customers waiting for orders or for processing exchanges.
