Butterfly Gala and Ornate Layers Dies

My workspace is a mess as I'm using the current downtime to post and sell a large stash of retired items on different Facebook buy/sell sites days before Demonstrators see the new annual catalog. . . 8 days to be exact!  That way, when the new catalog comes out, I can purchase new items without guilt using my demonstrator discount and my retired product sales proceeds.

So today's card pulled from several items already cut and sitting on my messy workspace.  I combined the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder background with Ornate Layers Dies, and then accented the face of the card with punched butterflies from the Butterfly Gala set.  I experiments coloring the butterflies with Light and Dark Petal Pink Blends Markers, and also did a version where I added some Light Pumpkin Pie Blends Marker to the butterfly wings.  I'm personally partial to the butterflies with just the Light and Dark Petal Pink Blends.  But the Light Pumpkin Pie Blends adds a lovely pop of color.

The basecard for today's card is Basic Gray.  Then a layer of Whisper White.  Then I dry embossed a piece of velum cardstock using the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder and layered it over a piece of Petal Pink, which gave it a more solid color yet maintained the very detailed impressions of the 3D embossing folder.  I love texture.

Then, I used the Ornate Layers Dies and created a detailed frame using Basic Gray.  This die creates a solid frame, so I used an Exact-o knife and a ruler to cut out the center section so the dry embossed layer showed through the frame.

Then I stamped the butterflies from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set in Basic Gray ink from Whisper White cardstock, and punched them out using the Butterfly Duet Punch.  I colored the butterflies using Light and Dark Petal Pink Blends and one photo shows the butterflies with a little Pumpkin Pie Blends Marker added for color.

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Gray on a Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut, as I wanted a sentiment that was small and didn't cover up any of the lovely background.

This time of year we have so many beautiful stamp sets, dies and embossing folders to work with, as we transition from one annual catalog to another (coming to customers in June), plus early release sets from the new catalog, and sets from the January-June Mini catalog.  I love that Stampin' Up! keeps our product lines teeming with fresh products that work wonderfully with stamps sets, punches and embossing folders throughout the product line.  Yet, Stampin' Up! makes it easy to coordinate products by organizing them into suites for effortless coordination.

Let's keep stampin' as we think of others who would love to know you're thinking of them.  Sending handmade cards is a great way to stay in touch when you can't be with distant loved ones and your cards will be greatly appreciated during these times.

If you don't have a demonstrator and want a copy of the January-June 2020 Mini catalogcontact me.   I would love to be your Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

  2. Hi there, Ifirst off it is a beautiful card and I am trying to show case it, is that the correct terminology? Anyway I'm trying to replicate it but using different colours and I may or may mot use a different embossing folder, depending on how it turns out. My question is, when you embossed the vellum, did you also emboss the piece of petal pink card-stock at the same time, or is that smooth like the grey and the whisper white and only the vellum went through the embossing machine? Thanks and again, such a lovely card 🥰💖

  3. I'm so flattered your are CASING my card!. No I only embossed the vellum layer; not the Petal Pink. The embossing had enough depth that I could use glue dots to hold the embossed velum layer to the Petal Pink layer without the glue dots showing. Would love to see your final card. Add a link when you're finished.!!
