Fall Sunflowers Kind of Day

  • A Fall -themed Stampin' Up Celebrate Sunflowers card
  • Register for the FREE virtual October 1 World Card Making Day event
  • Or, Join us in NW Houston for a free watch party for World Card Making Day event
I'm still not ready to put the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set away.  Every time I think I've played with it enough, I think of another idea for using it.  One of my team members gave me this idea.  She asked if I had ever run a stamp pad over the dry embossed image created using a 3D Embossing Folder.  I couldn't wait to rush home an try that idea using the Hive 3D Embossing folder and Gold ink.  I used a retired Gold ink pad, but this technique could also be used with other ink color, or by coating the raised embossed surface with VersaMark Ink, applying Gold Embossing Powder and heating it to set it with your Heat Tool.  I used an unusual  color combination of Sahara Sand, Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze with the Gold ink.  I added a stamped sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set, and colored it with Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake Blends.  I added Gold Foil Leaves and Grain and a bow of Baker's Twine.  The sentiment from the Celebrate Sunflowers was stamped in Cajun Craze on Crushed Curry, to complete the card.   Why not try your hand at this ink on embossed surface technique a try.   You'll enjoy creating your own Sunflower card using the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set and Sunflowers Dies from Stampin' Up!

Sunflower-themed Greeting Card using Stampin' Up! Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set

This card uses a Sahara Sand Cardstock basecard.  Then a layer of Sahara Sand Cardstock dry embossed using the Hive 3D Embossing Folder.  I ran a Gold ink pad over the raised honeycomb background and set it aside to dry.  For my image area, I created a matte layer of Crushed Curry and selected a Cajun Craze pint from the Rustic Harvest 12" X 12" Designer Series Paper pack.

Then, I stamped the largest sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set onto Basic White Cardstock using Cajun Craze ink and colored it using Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.  I used the Sunflowers Dies to Die Cut the sunflower image once it was colored.  Tip:  Because Cajun Craze ink is water soluble (not a permanent ink) try to avoid the stamped Cajun Craze lines when coloring with Daffodil to avoid smearing the stamped outline.

I die cut leaves and wheat die cuts using Gold Foil Sheets and the Sunflowers Dies.  I also added a bow using the Sahara Sand Twine from the Baker's Essentials Pack.  I stamped the sentiment onto Crushed Curry using Cajun Craze ink and fussy cut it before adding it to my card front.

  • Warm Welcome Bundle - Item #160704
What fun sets to work with!  Cottage Rose is from the Annual Catalog.  Cottage Wreaths is from the July-December 2022 Mini Catalog.  And Warm Welcome is from the upcoming January-June 2023 Mini Catalog.  Yes!  You can purchase the Warm Welcome set before the 2023 Mini Catalog is released!

Don't have these sets to use?  No problem!  Find similar sets among your existing sets, and create your cards using sets you already own. For instance,  instead of Cottage Wreath, consider using Natural Prints from the Annual Catalog.  This is what I'll be using.  But I've already ordered the other two set.  I can't wait to get my hands on the new set from the 2023 Mini Catalog.

Project Measurements:  Before the event, use the Stampin' Up! cutting guide to precut the cardstock you'll need to make the three cards Stampin' Up! will show us how to create.  They will also show us some new techniques.

I'm planning to cut two sets of cardstock for each card so I'm ready to make a second card once the live event ends.  That way I'll have one card as a sample and a second card ready to send.
