Sophisticated floral greeting card using Stampin' Up! Framed Florets and Brilliant WIngs Dies

  • Stampin' Up! Framed Florets and Brilliant Wings Dies
  • 5 New 2023-2025 In Colors
  • New Core Colors added to the Stampin' Up! Color Families
One of my favorite stamp sets retiring on 1 May is the Framed Florets Stamp Set.  Today's card pairs florals from the Framed Florets with Brilliant Wings Dies and lots of texture.  The Blending Brush background was created using the Organic Beauty Die.  I used it and a window Sheet to create a stencil to use with my Blending Brush.  I stamped the floral image from the Framed Florets Stamp set twice using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, and colored them lightly using Crumb Cake Blends.  I created a border out of Basic Black Cardstock and covered it with Natural Finish 7/8" Ribbon, which is on sale for $4.25, normally $8.50 | Item #159051, on the Stampin' Up! Last Chance Sale.   The bottom layer is Crumb Cake Cardstock dry embossed with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder.  The basecard is Crumb Cake Cardstock.  I added a few Black Matte Dot, which are also on sale for $4.20, normally $7.00 | Item #154284 on the Last Chance Sale.  The sentiments are stamped in Crumb Cake ink  on die cuts from the Tailor Made Tags Dies, which will carry over to the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog launching 2 May 2023.  The inspiration for this card came from demonstrator Gail Ellis from Blue Rose Paper Treasures.  You'll find her cards are lovely and sophisticated.

The basecard for today's card is Crumb Cake Cardstock.  Then a layer of Basic White, but if I were to make this card again, I think I would use very vanilla.  The banner in the center of the card is Basic Black covered with the 7/8" Natural Finish Ribbon.  The bottom third of the card is covered with Crumb Cake Cardstock dry embossed with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder (retired).

Floral greeting card idea using Stampin' Up! Framed Florets Stamp Set.

For the Basic White floral layer, I used one of the Organic Beauty Dies and created a stencil using the die to cut a stencil out of a Window Sheet.  I placed the stencil over my Basic White layer and use a Blending Brush and Crumb Cake to add a light shading of Crumb Cake to use as the background to my florals.  Remember to start your coloring on a scrap layer before blending on your Basic White layer.  I also found that blending in a single direction worked easier with the die cut stencil.  Next, I used one of the floral stamps from the Framed Florets Stamp Set, stamped it once in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then twisted the same floral stamp in another direction and stamped it again.  Then I used Crumb Cake Blends alcohol-based markers to lightly shade the florals.  Then I die cut a butterfly using Basic Black Cardstock and the Brilliant Wings Dies.  I popped it up on a mini Dimensional and added it to the center banner.

To finish my card, I  used the Tailor Made Tag Dies to create a sentiment tag.  I used Crumb Cake ink and stamped sentiments from the Framed Florets Stamp Set onto the tag.  I added even more texture to my card by adding Silver Threaded Twine tied with a bow of Linen Thread.  To pull the card together, I added a few Matte Black Dots to the card.  This is a great time to pick up several of these items that are retiring.  Several items are on sale in the Last Chance Sale, which started 4 April.  Grab these items before they are gone.

2023-2025 In Colors

Each year Stampin' Up! Adds 5 new In Colors to the color line up that remain in the product line for 2 years. These colors help the Stampin' Up! product line stay on trend. Below are the new 2023-2025 In Colors

These new colors will be available in Cardstock, Stampin' Write Markers, Blends, Stamp Pads and Ink Refills, Designer Series Papers, Watercolor pencils, Ribbons and additional accessories.

New additions to the Stamin' Up! Core Colors

Change is constant.  About every 5 years or so Stampin' Up! refreshes the entire product line with new Core colors in addition to the new In Colors.  While In Colors remain part of the the product line for 2 years, the Core colors remain in the product line until the next major Color revamp.  Some of the Core colors are new to Stampin' Up!.  Other's are returning favorites; many from past In Color Collections.

Returning Core Colors
These are the Returning Favorites.  Check your stamping stash as you may have cardstock, Stampin' Write Markers, Stamp pads and reinkers in these returning colors.

New colors added to the Core colors
There are the new colors we are welcoming to the Stampin' Up! Core Colors.

Fresh New Colors

Take a look at at the video below to see how all these new colors fit together in the new color lineup.  Your new 2023-2023 Annual Catalog will include a complete color chart on pages 122-123.  New catalogs for my customers who have purchased within the past 6 months should begin arriving mid to late April and ordering from the new  2023-2024 Annual Catalog begins 2 May 2023.

Please note:
Stampin' Up! in ink pads and inks refills contain chemicals that change over time, just like those old spices that are tucked into the back of your cupboard.  They are so much better when they are fresh.  For this reason it's best not to use your old pads with new ink refills--or new pads with old refills.  The ink and pads aren't defective, but as time passes, chemical changes may take place which could produce a less than satisfactory result.  In addition, older ink formulas mingled with new ink formulas could result in a sub-standard stamping experience.

What's the takeaway?  Please pair fresh ink pads with fresh ink refills.  Ideally, try to purchase both at the same time, as occasionally even current ink formulas need to be refreshed due to such factors as supplier changes or raw material availability.  We want you to really enjoy these terrific, vibrant colors to the fullest!

Retiring Colors

As part of the new Annual Catalog color refresh, these are the Core Colors that will retire from the Stampin' Up1 product line.   These are 11 Core colors that will no longer be available after 1 May 2023.

This is a heads up that price increase will impact several product categories in the upcoming new catalog.

You'll want to consider stocking up on items such as Cardstock, Specialty Paper, Notecards and Envelopes, Ink Pads and Refills, Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Write Markers, Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machines and plates, Take Your Pick products, Storage, Clear Blocks, Select adhesives, and Paper Pumpkin.  Consider purchasing a Paper Pumpkin subscription (a prepaid code) before the 2 May 2023 price change to receive current pricing on your subscription.  Order Paper Pumpkin subscriptions here:  https://www.paperpumpkin.com/en-us/sign-up/?demoid=100492
